Kick pays more per subscription (95% to the creator versus Twitch's standard 50%) and is easier to start on, because categories have fewer competitors. Twitch offers a far larger audience, more tools and payouts that work for Ukraine. For a Ukrainian streamer, getting the money out is often what decides it.
Which pays more, Kick or Twitch?
- Kick: a $5 sub, 95% ($4.75) to the creator from the very first sub. The same split applies to KICKs tips. Partners also get paid for organic viewership.
- Twitch: a standard 50/50 split. Under Partner Plus the share rises to 60% at 100 Plus Points and 70% at 300 Plus Points for three consecutive months; gifted and Prime subs do not count. There is also ad revenue and Bits.
Bottom line: per subscriber, Kick earns you roughly twice as much, but your total depends on where you gather more paying viewers. More in how much Kick pays streamers and how to monetize Twitch.
On both platforms, viewers are more likely to click into a stream that already has an audience. If you pick Kick, you can support your starting numbers with viewers for your Kick stream from $0.06 per 1000 for 15 minutes and $0.24 for an hour, from 10 viewers, no password needed. For Twitch, we have a separate guide on Twitch viewers and followers.
Where is it easier to start earning?
- Kick: subscriptions unlock after 5 hours of streaming, with no follower threshold. Partner takes 75 average viewers, 30 hours, 25 subs, 250 chatters and 250 followers.
- Twitch: the classic Affiliate threshold is 50 followers, 500 minutes streamed across 7 different days and an average of 3 viewers over 30 days.
Thresholds change on both platforms, so check your creator dashboard. The full Kick conditions are in Kick Partner Program.
Where is it easier to get viewers?
- Competition. Kick has noticeably fewer streamers, so a channel with 10–20 viewers shows up higher in a category list. On Twitch, a newcomer with the same numbers gets lost among thousands of channels.
- Audience. Twitch's audience is many times larger, and its Ukrainian-language segment is growing fast: according to Ukrainian media, viewers from Ukraine spent almost UAH 30 million on Twitch subs in 2025.
- Discovery. On both platforms a newcomer needs outside traffic: TikTok, Shorts, Telegram.
How do Kick and Twitch rules differ?
- Kick has historically been more lenient on content, but since 2025 it has restricted gambling streams to sites with 18+ age and identity checks.
- Both platforms ban unlicensed content, harassment and artificially inflated stats.
- Twitch moderates more strictly and issues bans for on-stream violations more often.
Can you get paid in Ukraine?
This is the key difference. Ukrainian streamers monetize on Twitch and receive payouts. Kick pays only through Stripe, and as of late 2025 Stripe does not operate in Ukraine. The options are covered in how to withdraw money from Kick.
So where should a new streamer go?
- Choose Kick if reaching the top of a category quickly and keeping 95% of subs matter more, and you can receive payouts in a country where Stripe works.
- Choose Twitch if you stream for a Ukrainian audience and want to get paid in Ukraine without workarounds; see how to grow a Twitch channel.
- Many creators stream on both at once: since 2023 Twitch has allowed simulcasting to other services. Just remember that your chat and viewer count get split in two.
If you go with Kick, you can liven up your chat with AI messages during your first streams at $20 per 1000, from 10 messages.
