How to Make a Poll in Telegram: Anonymous, Quiz and Multiple Answers

To make a poll in Telegram, open a group or channel, tap the paperclip and choose Poll. Enter the question and answer options, then pick a mode: anonymous voting, multiple answers or a quiz with a correct answer. Since the April 2026 update you can also attach media, set a time limit and hide results until the poll ends.

How to create a Telegram poll on your phone

• Open a group or channel where you are allowed to post.
• Tap the paperclip next to the message field and choose Poll.
• Type the question and at least two options — new fields appear automatically.
• At the bottom, switch on what you need: Anonymous Voting, Multiple Answers, Quiz Mode.
• Tap Create and the poll is sent.

A poll only gets as many votes as the number of people who see it: with 200 views, only a share will vote. How to make a poll on desktop

In Telegram Desktop, open the chat, click ⋮ in the header or the paperclip and choose Create Poll. The web version works the same way: attachment icon → Poll. The settings match the mobile app.

Anonymous vs public poll: what's the difference?

• Anonymous — only vote counts and percentages are visible. Good for sensitive topics and channels.
• Public (turn off Anonymous Voting) — members see who voted for what. Handy in groups for picking a meeting date or collecting orders.
• Multiple answers — voters tick every option that fits and confirm.

A vote in a regular poll can be retracted from the message menu unless the author disabled revoting. To end a poll early, the author chooses Stop Poll.

How to make a quiz with a correct answer

• Turn on Quiz Mode and mark the correct option.
• Add an explanation — it is shown after someone answers.
• Since April 2026 a quiz can have several correct answers.

What new poll settings have appeared?

Telegram's April 6, 2026 update added:

• photos, videos or a location in the question and answer options;
• a description that gives voters context;
• answer options suggested by participants;
• results hidden until the end, plus a time limit;
• shuffled options and a ban on revoting;
• a tab with active and past polls in group and channel profiles.

If some options are missing, update the app.

How to run a fair vote and spot fake votes

Every vote in a Telegram poll is tied to an account, and one account can vote only once. But accounts are easy to mass-create, so contests with prizes often attract vote manipulation. What helps an organizer:

• Vote in a group, not a channel. Channels only accept anonymous polls, while a public poll in a group shows who voted for what, so suspicious accounts stand out in the list.
• Watch the pace. A jump of dozens or hundreds of votes within minutes while the post's views barely move is worth a closer look.
• Compare votes with views. Usually only a share of viewers vote. If one option has almost as many votes as the post has views, something is off.
• Check the voters. A batch of empty profiles with no photo or username all backing one option is a classic sign of manipulation.
• Turn on protective settings: no revoting, a time limit and results hidden until the end.
• Publish the rules in advance, including that votes from suspicious accounts may be voided, and keep screenshots of interim results.

A word on account theft: messages asking you to "vote for a contestant" via an outside website that wants you to log in with Telegram, enter your phone number and code, or scan a QR code are a scam. A real Telegram poll takes one tap inside the app.

How to use polls to grow a channel

• Ask what to write about next — readers become co-authors of your content.
• Topic quizzes drive activity and shares.
• Post the results separately and don't overdo the frequency.
• In giveaways with prizes, keep voting fair: a disputed result damages trust.
