A TikTok repost is a way to share someone else's video with your followers and friends in one tap, without downloading or re-uploading it. Below is how to repost and undo a repost, and for creators, why reposts are one of the strongest signals for the algorithm and how to get more of them.
How to repost on TikTok
- Open the video you want to share.
- Tap the "Share" arrow on the right of the video.
- Choose "Repost" — the icon with two arrows. In most app versions it is yellow.
- Done: the video appears for your friends and followers with a note that you reposted it, and on your profile in the reposts tab.
The feature rolls out country by country. If you do not see the button, update the app. You cannot repost your own videos.
How to undo a repost
- Open the reposted video, for example through the reposts tab on your profile.
- Tap "Share" again.
- Choose "Remove repost". The video disappears from your profile and stops showing to friends as your repost.
Repost, share and duet: the difference
- Repost — the video goes to your friends' and followers' feeds, and authorship stays with the creator.
- Share — you send the video to a specific person in messages or another messenger.
- Duet and Stitch — you create your own video with part of someone else's, and it appears on your profile as a new post.
Why reposts matter for creators
Every repost and share shows the video to a new audience: the friends and followers of the person who shared it. Shares are also considered one of the most valuable signals for the algorithm: people share a video only if it really landed. Videos with reposts and saves more often reach beyond the first group of viewers. More on how the feed works is in how to get on the TikTok For You page.
How to get more reposts
- Make videos "for a friend": situations people want to send with the caption "this is us".
- Give value: lists, guides and roundups are often saved and sent to friends.
- Ask directly: "send this to someone who…" in on-screen text works better than a vague call to action.
- Pick debatable and timely topics: people share them to discuss.
Formats people share are collected in TikTok video ideas. Tip: a new video struggles to get its first reposts while nobody has seen it. Starter TikTok reposts from $1.80 per 1000 and saves from $0.15 per 1000 help a video look like it is already being shared.
Start promoting
- Reposts and saves: real reposts for $2.30 or fast ones for $1.80 per 1000, no-drop saves for $0.15 per 1000 — on the buy TikTok followers, likes and views page.
- Reach: views from $0.14 and likes from $0.40 per 1000 so the counters look consistent.
- A real audience: Promote on a video people are already sharing — see TikTok advertising in Ukraine.
Keep the proportions: there are always fewer reposts than likes and fewer likes than views. That way the video looks natural.
