TikTok analytics live in your profile under TikTok Studio → Analytics, and on desktop in TikTok Studio on the TikTok website. If you don't see the section, switch to a free Business account. Start with average watch time, completion rate, traffic sources and new followers per video.
How to turn on TikTok analytics
- Open your profile (the icon in the bottom-right corner).
- Tap TikTok Studio under your bio or in the three-line menu.
- Choose Analytics and swipe through the tabs at the top.
If Analytics is missing, go to Settings and privacy → Account → Switch to Business Account. It's free, and your followers and videos stay put. On desktop, analytics are available in TikTok Studio on the TikTok website, with larger charts and data export. Numbers don't appear instantly — usually within a day.
What's inside TikTok analytics
- Overview. Video views, profile views, likes, comments, shares and follower growth for the selected period.
- Content. Per-video stats: average watch time, completion rate, reach and where views came from.
- Followers (viewers). Gender, age, locations and active hours of your audience. Several sources say follower data appears from around 100 followers.
- LIVE. Stream views, unique viewers, peak concurrent viewers, new followers and gifts where available.
You can pick a preset period (for example 7 or 60 days) or set a custom date range.
Which TikTok metrics matter most
Views are the outcome, not the cause. To understand why a video worked or flopped, check:
- Average watch time and completion rate — the main interest signal for the algorithm.
- Retention curve — shows the exact second viewers drop off.
- Traffic sources — For You, profile, Following, search, sound. A high For You share means the video reached recommendations.
- Saves and shares — stronger than likes: people want to come back or show it to others.
- New followers per video — which topics turn viewers into an audience.
We explain how these signals affect distribution in how the TikTok algorithm works. If your analytics show solid completion but almost no saves, you can add them on our TikTok saves and reposts page — saves from $0.15 per 1,000, reposts from $1.80, no account password needed.
How to check stats for a single video
- Open the video on your profile.
- Tap the view counter or the three dots and choose Analytics.
- Compare retention and traffic sources with your best-performing videos.
Wait at least 24 hours before judging a video: data from the first hours is incomplete.
Why TikTok analytics are not showing or updating
- Data delay. Numbers can lag by up to a day.
- Too few followers. Audience demographics don't show on very small accounts.
- Outdated app or an account type without analytics — update or switch to a Business account.
- TikTok outages. Sometimes analytics fail to load for many users at once; in that case just wait.
How to use analytics to grow your views
- Viewers leave in the first 2–3 seconds — rework the hook and the on-screen text.
- Little traffic from For You — check originality and possible guideline violations.
- Match posting time to your followers' active hours — see the best time to post on TikTok.
- Repeat the formats that bring the most new followers.
- A sharp drop across all metrics is a reason to run through the checklist in why TikTok views dropped.
If your numbers are still too small to draw conclusions, you can pick starter views, likes and followers in our TikTok growth services — from $0.14 per 1,000. The algorithm still judges real viewers' reactions, so video quality stays the deciding factor.
