No: in a Telegram channel you cannot see who exactly viewed a post. The counter shows only a number, and this is the same for the owner, admins and Premium accounts. Regular reactions in a channel are anonymous too — you only see the total for each emoji. Names appear only for paid Star reactions (unless the sender chose to stay anonymous), while groups and private chats follow different rules.
Can you see who viewed a post in a Telegram channel
A Telegram channel is a broadcast, not a chat, so its readers are anonymous. The owner sees the number of views and forwards under each post, but not a list of accounts. Neither Telegram Premium nor admin rights change that.
- Admins can see the subscriber list, but it doesn't tell you who opened a specific post.
- Views from forwards and search are also counted only as a number.
- Bots and websites that promise to "show who viewed" are a sign of a scam. Never enter your number, SMS code or password there.
Since reader names are hidden, a new visitor judges whether a channel is alive by the numbers under the posts. If new posts get too few views, you can add starting views on our Telegram views page — from $0.12 per 1,000, no password, just a post link. Telegram's rules are against artificial activity, so keep volumes moderate and remember that advertisers look at ERR, not only the counter.
Can you see who reacted in a Telegram channel
For regular reactions, no. A channel shows how many times each emoji was tapped, but not by whom. Even the bot documentation states that channel posts only expose anonymous reaction totals.
- Paid Star reactions are the exception. Such a post has a leaderboard of top senders, but every sender can hide and stay anonymous.
- Comments always show their author, which is why many channels enable them for feedback — see how to enable comments in a Telegram channel.
How to set up the emoji list and paid Stars is covered in reactions in a Telegram channel.
What channel statistics show instead of names
Built-in statistics (channel profile → "⋮" or "More" → "Statistics") provide only aggregated data:
- views and forwards for each recent post;
- views by hour — when your audience is online;
- sources of views and new subscribers;
- audience languages and the share of enabled notifications.
How to read these charts and calculate ERR is explained in Telegram channel statistics.
How it works in groups
- Group reactions are not anonymous. Long-press the reactions under a message to see who left them.
- Who read it. In small groups (up to 100 members, according to guides) the menu of your own message shows who has read it. This data is kept for 7 days after sending.
- Larger groups have no list of readers.
What you can see in private chats and stories
- Two checkmarks mean the other person has read your message.
- Read time. Since January 2024, private chats show the exact time a message was opened; it is kept for 7 days. If you hide your own read time, you won't see others' either. Premium users can hide theirs and still see the read time of those who share it (more in what Telegram Premium gives).
- Personal profile stories. The author sees a list of viewers — this is the main place in Telegram where views are not anonymous.
Bottom line: if you need to know specific people, use a group or comments; if you need large-scale broadcasting, use a channel and analyze statistics instead of a list of names.
