Telegram's built-in channel statistics open to the owner and admins once the channel has more than 50 subscribers (groups need more than 500 members). You will find them on the channel profile under ⋮ or More → Statistics. The key numbers are average post reach and ERR: for an active channel, an ERR of 10–30% of subscribers is a commonly cited benchmark, while anything under 10% usually means an inactive audience.
How many subscribers do you need for statistics?
The threshold has changed several times: in 2020 statistics required 1000 subscribers. According to 2024–2026 guides, the section now appears for channels with more than 50 subscribers. Only the owner and admins can see it.
- Android: channel profile → ⋮ → Statistics.
- iPhone: channel profile → More → Statistics.
- Desktop: channel menu in Telegram Desktop → Statistics.
The same area has a Boosts tab with the channel level and boost link.
What metrics are in the built-in statistics?
- Overview: subscribers, share with notifications on, average views and shares per post.
- Growth and followers: how many people joined and left each day.
- Views by hour — when your audience is online.
- View and follower sources: subscription, other channels, search, links, private chats.
- Languages of the audience.
- Recent posts: views and shares for each publication.
How to calculate ERR and ER for a Telegram channel
ERR shows what share of subscribers sees your posts: ERR = average post reach / subscribers × 100%. Example: 4000 subscribers and 1000 views per post give an ERR of 25%. ERR24 uses views from the first 24 hours. ER counts actions: (reactions + comments + shares) / views × 100%.
ERR depends directly on reach. If new posts lack early views, you can add them on the Telegram views page — from $0.014 per 1000 on recent posts or $0.12 per 1000 on any post, with a Ukraine GEO option. Only the post link is needed, never a password. Keep the ratios realistic: advertisers notice an ERR spike without more reactions.
What ER and reach are considered normal?
Telegram publishes no official benchmarks, so these are the reference points advertisers and analysts use:
- ERR under 10% — the audience is mostly inactive or has archived the channel.
- ERR 10–30% — a typical range for an active channel.
- ERR above 30–50% with a much lower ERR24 — analysts suggest checking view sources.
- Reaction-based ER is always several times lower than ERR, since only some readers react.
How reach depends on timing and post format is covered in how to increase views in a Telegram channel.
Which analytics tools should you use?
- TGStat — ERR, citation index, mentions and growth of any public channel.
- Telemetr — reach, ad posts and audience checks.
- Popsters and LiveDune — competitor comparisons and reports.
These tools see only public data and use their own formulas, so their numbers may differ from built-in statistics. For advertiser talks, collect your metrics in a Telegram channel media kit.
Why reach drops and what to do
- Subscribers muted notifications — check the Notifications chart.
- Posting too often splits reach between posts.
- An ad campaign brought an off-target audience.
- Posts go out while your audience sleeps — compare with Views by hour.
To grow subscribers and views in step, manage both in one place — the Telegram promotion page has subscribers and auto views for new posts. Strong statistics can then be sold through Telegram ad exchanges.
