Instagram Plus is Meta's paid subscription for regular users that adds extra Stories and profile features. In the US it costs $3.99 a month; prices differ in other countries. The global rollout happened on June 4, 2026, and since September 15, 2026 Plus is part of the Meta One subscription line-up. It is not a creator subscription or a Meta Verified badge, and it does not boost your reach in recommendations.
What Instagram Plus is and when it appeared
- Spring 2026. Meta started testing it in Mexico, Japan and the Philippines. Test prices reported by media: 39 Mexican pesos, 319 yen and 65 Philippine pesos a month.
- June 4, 2026. Global rollout at $3.99 a month.
- September 15, 2026. Meta launched Meta One — a single subscription line-up for Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, with Instagram Plus as a standalone plan.
Regular Instagram stays free: the subscription only adds features on top.
What Instagram Plus gives you
- Story Spotlight — temporarily lifts your story in friends' Stories tray.
- Story Extend — a story stays up for 48 hours instead of 24.
- Multiple audience lists — not just Close Friends.
- Stories insights — rewatch counts, viewer list search, and notifications when specific people view your story.
- Story and message previews. During the test, media described anonymous viewing of other people's Stories; how the feature works now may vary by region.
- Customization — app icons, fonts for bio, Stories and DMs, up to 6 pinned posts, animated super hearts.
Note that Story Spotlight works on people already connected to you; it does not bring a new audience. If you run a blog or business account and need numbers under your stories, it is simpler to add Stories views — from $0.15 per 1,000 across all active stories, by profile link and with no password. Don't overdo it: Instagram's rules are aimed against artificial activity, so this tool complements real content rather than replacing it.

Who can get Instagram Plus and how to subscribe
- Open your profile and the menu (three lines).
- Find the Instagram Plus item or the Meta subscriptions section.
- Check the price in your currency and pay via the App Store or Google Play.
The rollout is staged, and at launch subscribing was only possible in the mobile app. We found no official price for Ukraine: if the item is missing from your menu, your account has not received access yet.
Instagram Plus vs creator subscriptions vs Meta Verified
- Instagram Plus — you pay Meta for features for yourself.
- Creator subscription — you pay a specific creator for exclusive content.
- Meta Verified — a badge, impersonation protection and support. Instagram Plus has no badge — see how to get the blue check on Instagram.
Is Instagram Plus worth paying for?
The subscription makes sense if you post Stories actively for friends, want to share stories with different circles or care about detailed view stats. For account growth it does almost nothing: recommendations and search stay the same. A creator gets more from investing in the stories themselves — structure and interactive features are covered in Instagram Stories: how to post and get views. And if you are interested in viewing other people's stories anonymously, compare options and risks in how to view Instagram Stories anonymously.
