You send a Telegram gift with Stars: open a person's or a channel's profile, tap "Send a Gift", pick one and pay. A regular gift can be kept on the recipient's profile or exchanged for Stars, while a gift from a limited collection can be upgraded to a unique collectible NFT, sold on Telegram's marketplace or moved to a TON wallet.
How to send a gift on Telegram with Stars
Gifts are bought only with Telegram's in-app currency, Stars. We explain what they are and how to get them in our Telegram Stars guide. Here is how sending works:
- Open the other person's profile, tap ⋮ or ⋯ and choose "Send a Gift". In a channel, tap the gift icon at the bottom of the screen.
- Pick a gift. Limited ones show how many are left.
- Add a message and, if you like, hide your name, so only the recipient sees who sent it.
- Confirm the payment. If you are short on Stars, Telegram offers to top up.
You can also send gifts to channels: they appear in the Gifts tab, and the owner can exchange them for Stars or transfer them. For creators it is one more income stream, but it only works with a live audience. If your channel is just starting, you can strengthen its base with Telegram Premium subscribers from $2.12 per 1,000, no password needed, just the channel link.
What limited gifts are and how upgrading to an NFT works
Limited gifts are released in a fixed quantity. Once a collection sells out, you can only buy it from other users. These are usually the gifts that can be upgraded.
- Upgrade. The "Upgrade" button turns a gift into a collectible: it gets a random model, backdrop and symbol, a serial number and its own t.me/nft/… link. The upgrade price in Stars is shown on the gift card and varies by collection. The sender can also prepay the upgrade.
- Exchange for Stars. A regular gift can be converted to Stars, but you receive less than the sender paid. According to 2026 guides, you have roughly 7 days after receiving it to do so.
- Crafting. Since February 2026 you can combine up to 4 collectible gifts into a new, rarer one: Uncommon, Rare, Epic or Legendary. More gifts mean a better chance of success.
How to sell a gift on the Telegram marketplace
Only collectible (upgraded) gifts can be sold inside Telegram:
- Open the gift on your profile, tap "Sell" and set a price in Stars.
- The listing appears on the marketplace and your profile shows a sale label. Tap "Unlist" to cancel.
- Since December 2025 buyers can make their own offer in Stars or in the TON blockchain's native coin via "Offer to Buy" (since June 15, 2026 that coin is called Gram, formerly Toncoin). The money is held for the duration of the offer and refunded if you decline. The owner sees how close the offer is to the gift's estimated value.
A commission is deducted from each sale, and the app shows the amount you will receive before you confirm. You can spend or withdraw the Stars you earn; see our guide to Telegram Stars monetization.
How to move a gift to a TON wallet and sell it outside Telegram
A collectible gift is an NFT on the TON blockchain, so you can send it to your own wallet: My Profile → Gifts → the gift → Transfer → Send via Blockchain.
- You need a TON wallet and a Fragment login. The blockchain is still called TON, but since June 2026 its coin is Gram (GRAM), so wallets and exchanges show the new name. Industry media report that Fragment may ask for KYC verification before withdrawal.
- Withdrawal is not instant: guides such as kod.ru cite about 21 days after the upgrade. The rules have changed before, so check the exact date in the app.
- Outside Telegram, gifts are traded on TON NFT marketplaces and marketplace bots. Fees vary, so compare them before selling.
How gifts appear on your profile
- All gifts live in the Gifts tab. You can hide the ones you don't want shown, pin favourites to the top and group them into collections.
- A collectible gift can be worn as an emoji status, giving your profile its backdrop and pattern. Gifts can also be used as chat themes.
- On channels, the Gifts tab can be filtered by value, date and collection type.
Common Telegram gift scams
- Fake marketplaces. Clone bots and sites of well-known platforms ask you to connect a wallet and approve access, then drain your NFTs. Verify the address before connecting.
- "Free gifts". Offers to claim a gift by logging in through a link usually lead to a phishing page that steals your login code.
- "Send it first" deals. It is safer to sell via the built-in marketplace or Offer to Buy, where payment is held in advance.
Turn on two-step verification and never share codes or seed phrases. If you run a channel and want more gifts and Stars, you first need an audience that actually sees your posts: you can add Ukraine-targeted subscribers on our Telegram subscribers page from $0.40 per 1,000. Telegram's rules prohibit artificial activity, so order moderately and alongside regular content.
