A TikTok Business account is free and takes a minute to set up: Settings and privacy → Account → Switch to Business Account. It gives you a profile link without a follower threshold, contact buttons, advanced analytics and auto-replies. The main drawbacks are the commercial-only music library and no access to the Creator Rewards Program.
How is a TikTok Business account different from a personal one?
The account type doesn't change your handle, followers or videos. What changes is the toolset:
- Personal account — for creators: the full music library and monetization programs where available.
- Business account — for brands, shops and services: contacts, analytics, integrations and commercial music without copyright risk.
TikTok has never officially confirmed that Business accounts get less reach. But the music restriction makes it harder to join trends, which can indirectly affect views.
If you're just launching a business profile, an empty page puts customers off. Starter followers, views and likes are available in our TikTok growth services — from $0.14 per 1,000, with no account access or password required.
How to switch to a Business account on TikTok
- Open your profile and tap the three-line menu in the top right.
- Choose Settings and privacy → Account.
- Tap Switch to Business Account and confirm.
- Pick a business category — it shapes suggestions and some of the tools.
- Add your website, email and other contacts via Edit profile.
Switching is free and needs no documents. We cover setting up a profile and content for sales in how to promote a business on TikTok.
What does a TikTok Business account give you?
- Website link in your profile. Personal accounts usually get a clickable link from 1,000 followers; Business accounts get it right away (this may vary by region).
- Contact buttons — email and other contact options right in your profile header.
- Advanced analytics with data export — handy for reporting.
- Auto-replies and welcome messages in DMs — you don't lose leads outside working hours.
- Commercial Music Library — tracks cleared for promotional use.
- Integrations with the ads dashboard and scheduling tools. For advertising as a Ukrainian business, see TikTok advertising in Ukraine.
What are the downsides of a Business account?
- Limited music. Only the commercial library is available, and many trending tracks aren't in it.
- No Creator Rewards Program. TikTok only pays for views on personal accounts — more in the TikTok Creativity Program explained.
- LIVE gifts. Several sources say Business accounts can't receive LIVE gifts — check this on your own account if you plan to stream.
- Lost analytics history if you switch account types often — export your data first.
Who needs a Business account and who should stay personal?
- Business account: online shops, salons, experts and service providers who need a link, leads and ads.
- Personal account: creators who grow reach through trends and plan to earn from LIVE gifts or partner programs.
- Middle ground: keep your personal brand on a personal account and run a separate Business profile for the brand's sales.
How to switch back to a personal account
In the same Settings and privacy → Account menu, tap Switch to Personal Account. Your followers and videos stay, and the full music library returns, but your profile link may disappear if you have fewer than 1,000 followers. Some business analytics may also become unavailable.
Whichever account type you choose, the algorithm looks at retention and how real viewers respond: watch-through, saves, shares and comments. If your promo and product videos need some starting numbers, there are TikTok views from $0.14 per 1,000. They change the counter but don't guarantee a spot on For You, and TikTok's rules prohibit artificial activity, so drops are possible.
